Battery operated TVs have really come of age since the invention of the LCD screen. Quite a few models are now on the market that will easily slip into your pocket. Most portable battery operated TV’s will be viewed from the front so it is not as crucial. Larger models that 2 or more people are going to be watching will need a fairly decent viewing angle. LCD screens that are 7 inch screens are the most heavily manufactured. This size represents a good price point as mass production brings the price down quite dramatically. Try to get the brightest screen possible for the best viewing in lit up areas or daylight viewing. Higher resolution pictures will also give you the most viewing pleasure.
The length of time you can use the unit in between battery charges is something else you may want to take into consideration. Most come with AC adapters for charging from mains but some don’t so you may need to consider purchasing a battery charger for the wall as well. A 12 volt charger is also great for topping your TV up in the car as well.
Miniaturisation of technology can also be life saving during times of natural disaster. Now, with the miniaturisation of battery operated TVs it’s possible to include one in your emergency kit along with your portable radio.
Without a portable TV you won’t be able to get the crucial information that will broadcast over TV signals in a national emergency. Avoid the models that have lithium batteries in them as you won’t be able to recharge them while the power is out.
You can now even take a portable satellite receiver system with you when you’re out camping or travelling. With a 17″ LCD screen it’s a bit too big to fit in your pocket but it can be taken just about everywhere as it’s self contained in its own fold up case that is easy to transport. This makes it convenient to take on your camping trips, down to the beach or in the back of the car at your next tailgate party.
